City Park, 7th and Sommers St.
Now in it's 85th year, Prosser's States Day Celebration and Parade is a time "when old friends meet". Held on Labor Day each year, States Day dates back to a time when farmers would put down the plow and head into town for an old fashioned family picnic. One tradition that has stood the test of time is the registering of residents by the state they hailed from. Townspeople would sign up and wear a badge proudly displaying their home state and thus the name "States Day" was adopted and continues today.
Kicking off the day's festivities is the Grand Parade which starts sharply at 10am. Directly after the parade, the crowd descends upon City Park where you'll find something for every age and gender. Concessions from tacos to hamburgers, and more, plus bingo, a dunk tank, entertainment, talent show, and, of course, a full-scale carnival.
